‘Volunteering Celebration wrapped in sunshine’
Saturday 5th June saw the 2nd annual Celebration of Volunteering in Torbay & the sun shone brightly with spirits running high. The event organised by CVA Torbay & held in Union Square hosted over 24 local organisations who work with volunteers & members of our community.
Mayor Nick Bye officially opened the day, accompanied by newly crowned Miss Torbay and her lady in waiting. Following the introduction to the day, Mayor Nick visited the various displays with the award of ‘Best Dressed Display’ going to the Cats Protection Torquay & District Branch.
Members of the public were treated to an oriental Lion Dance & martial arts weaponry display courtesy of Temple Gym and Martial Arts Centre.

Great thanks go out to all who attended the event and supported the local voluntary sector in Torbay; plans are already a foot to mark National Volunteers Week 2011.
