What is a Social Entrepreneur? The Arthur Guinness Fund web entry quotes “A social entrepreneur is someone with a business head and a social heart. They use the skills, creativity and drive of a successful business entrepreneur and apply them to delivering transformational change in society. Innovative in addressing social needs, they are passionate about making a difference to communities and those who live in them. They are people from many different walks of life, with a track record of making things happen”.

The Fund has announced a three-year partnership with Ashoka, (www.ashoka.org) a global association of more than 2,500 social entrepreneurs and will award grants to social entrepreneurs that will total about £6m by 2012.

Entrepreneurs with a desire to change communities for the better can apply to the Arthur Guinness Fund annually.  This year the global application process will open on Tuesday 28th September 2010.
