‘Community First’, a nation-wide programme funded by OCS – part of the Cabinet Office – has selected three Torbay wards to receive funding to help communities come together  to be more resilient, and to enhance their local areas. In this second year of a four-year project, funding will be on offer to groups already working in the wards concerned as well as to new groups intending to start projects of their own.

The Blatchcombe, Ellacombe and Tormohun wards have been chosen as areas to receive grants of up to £2500 for projects such as:

  • Improving the local environment
  • Empowering the community to increase its residents’ aspirations
  • Improving relationships between generations
  • Reducing health inequalities

Grants will be distributed, after detailed consultation, by Community Fund panels made up of local people in each ward. For more information and to find out how to apply for funding contact, Robin Causley here at CVA Torbay, robin@cvatorbay.org.uk or, by phone, 01803 212638.
