"Mrs Hyland has lived in Devon since 1996 and moved to Torquay in 2001. She has had an interesting and varied career which has included 5 years in the Women's Royal Naval Service, a period in the Civil Service (MAFF) and 8 years as an Office Manager for a London Trading Company. She has also run her own interior design business and acted as Company Secretary and book-keeper for her husband's management consultancy company. After moving to the West Country she became involved in the Voluntary Sector, joining Relate South Devon in 1998. in 2002 she was appointed Manager of the Centre, based in Torquay, and retired in 2008. Mrs Hyland joined the Executive Committee of CVA Torbay (then Torbay Voluntary Service) in 2001 and was elected Chairman in 2008."

Ms Iris Butler

Iris joined CVA Torbay as a Trustee in 2009 when she retired as Director of Human Resources for South Devon Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. Iris was also a Trustee and Vice-Chair of Rowcroft Hospice for eight years until 2010. She is now Chair of Governors of Paignton Community and Sports College; a member of Torbay Osteoporosis Support Group; a member of the Trefoil Guild and involved in the Bay’s Active for Life Campaign.
Ms Joan Farleigh

Joan became a Trusteee in 2010. She has many years experience within a public service organisation which serves the local community. Her experience has involved working with local employers ,other public service and community and voluntary organisations and more recently this has been in a Strategic Partnership role. Her employment background has enabled her to develop communication, presentational , marketing and networking skills .
Mr Michael Wickens
CVA Torbay TRUSTEE (Member of the Board of Trustees)
On retirement from Surrey Police having served 31 yrs Michael decided to work longer hours and take even more challenging work by joining Social Services, serving on the Management Committees of CAB and HomeStart before moving to Devon and buying and running a Hotel.
This was closely followed by short term contracts in Community Safety, NHS Expert Patient Programme, Chair of Torbay PCT and facilitating at Family Group Conferences.
Michael has for the past 3 years worked full time for Barnardo’s in providing support to Children of Offender’s and was recently encouraged to find another hour to rejoin the management committee of CVA Torbay.
In the intervening minutes Michael likes racquet sports, music, reading and sleeping!
Mrs Margaret English
CVA Torbay TRUSTEE (Member of the Board of Trustees)
Margaret joined CVA Torbay as a Trustee in 2010. She has lived all her life in Paignton and worked for F. J. Reeves in Totnes for 22 years. She started in the computer department progressing to stock control, human resources, training and pensions. Since leaving Reeves she has taught personal finance at local colleges and summer schools. Currently she teaches for 2 weeks each July at Marlborough Summer Summer School. Margaret is a member of local rambling groups and enjoys leading walks in South and East Devon.
