Voluntary sector helps secure safer nights in Torquay. The British Red Cross and the Torbay Street Pastors are teaming up with the emergency services to help those who get into difficulties on a night out in Torquay. It’s under the Bay’s Safer Nights Partnership Service which offers a helping hand to those who might get injured, be in emotional distress, feel vulnerable or who have had too much to drink on a Friday or Saturday night. The service is based on Torquay seafront.
The Red Cross is looking for volunteers to help with the initiative which is run on Friday from 10pm-2am and Saturday 10pm-4am. Briefing takes place at 9.30pm. Volunteers will receive full training, including of course how to offer first-aid assistance. Anyone interested can contact the British Red Cross volunteer manager for Devon, Rosalyn Pascoe on 01392 353276 or email rpascoe@redcross.org.uk
