Robert Owen Communities

ROC aims to equip each person with the skills, knowledge and attitude that will enable them to lead a full, purposeful and satisfying life, and contribute to the quality of life of others.

Since starting with 6 people in 1995, we now have over 100 people who attend over the week, all having personal centred planning programmes.

Aspects has developed many opportunities for voluntary work to help our young people to achieve their goals, through progressive learning pathways in various activities: Computers, Cooking, Bus Training, Outward Bound Walking, Gardening, Photography, Drama, and Crafts. We have our own shop in Hyde Road selling all hand made crafts made by Adults with Learning Disabilities. Also ROC Samba band is very popular which gives performances all around the country; they have even performed for royalty.

Aspects provide social and vocational training, a chance to gain certificated skills, promoting independence. We also offer a Sports Active programme based at Clennon Valley where our members can try out any sport, including swimming and the gym.
It’s a very exciting time so we feel we have a lot to offer potential volunteers, including flexible hours, fun, continued support, full training, team working and all expenses paid.
