Austerity measures hitting children's charities the hardest

A new NCB report finds that the children and young people's voluntary sector is amongst the hardest hit by government funding cuts and local authority austerity measures. This timely report, produced in collaboration with NCVO, provides a comprehensive analysis of the children and young people's voluntary sector in England. Parentline Plus is an independent charity who exist “because instructions aren’t included” and also “because parents are the most important people in their children’s lives. Helping parents is the best way to help children”.
 
They help all parents – mums, dads, grandparents, stepparents, other friends and relatives and recognise that bringing up children is the most rewarding and the hardest thing any of us ever do. They acknowledge that sometimes it’s really tough, .….and sometimes you can feel lonely, isolated and judged.

Parentline offer support in a wide range of areas, for example do you want help talking to your kids about relationships and sex, give them a call, they also have an information leaflet entitled “The Real Picture – Parents and PreTeens”.
 
If you are involved with a Voluntary or Community Group working with Children and Young People, we have a number of information leaflets and poster etc about talking to young people about relationships, puberty, self confidence, growing up, setting limits etc. Please call into the TVS office.
