Capacitybuilders Capacitybuilders are an agency with responsibility to manage initially the £70 million ChangeUp programme for the financial years 2006/07 and 2007/08. They will work with voluntary and community organisations (VCOs) in every region to help the voluntary and community sector become even more effective and efficient. Vision Their vision is to create an independent, innovative, flexible, responsive and sustainable voluntary and community sector, which achieves its full potential in:
- service delivery
- policy analysis
- community development
- campaigning
Mission Their mission is to secure a high-quality, sustainably-funded infrastructure for frontline voluntary and community organisations. This should allow them to achieve their aims better and use their resources more effectively. Principles They will
- respect voluntary and community organisations' independence
- take full account of diversity
- take account of frontline voluntary and community organisations' experience
- recognise that a variety of approaches to capacity building may be successful
- keep to the Nolan Report's public service principles
