Managing Occupational Road Risk in Voluntary Organisations
ROSPA - The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents - have a booklet, entitled  'Managing Occupational Road Risk in Voluntary Organisations: A pilot study' which may be of use to you as an organisation and as the title suggests it deals with the two sets of law that apply to the MORR - The Management of Occupational Road Risk. This document is available at: http://www.rospa.com/roadsafety/info/voluntary_morr.pdf

Recognising & Raising Awareness of Volunteers    Our links with Torbay Schools continues to strengthen, with articles being published in Torbay Governors Association Newsletter & talks with Head Teachers taking place. A very successful “Which Way Now” Careers fair was held at Brixham Community College where Torbay ChangeUp was able to distribute lots of information about volunteering in Torbay. All those given information (lots of parent/guardian interest also) were advised to access www.do-it.org.uk & www.torcom.org.uk  to search for available opportunities and local events & contact information.

We are looking forward to valuing volunteers within the school community in addition to those already known to us as well as encouraging young people to get involved.

Torbay ChangeUp would like to formally recognise all volunteers in Torbay and are actively working on a project to achieve this. A large percentage of organisation currently have an existing system in place to thank volunteers however some may not, therefore this initiative will raise the profile of volunteers and help to celebrate their valuable contribution.   In order to capture as many volunteers as possible we are hopeful you will have your group/organisations details registered on Torcom. If this is not the case please contact TVS 01803 212638 for more information and have your details added FREE of charge.   Promoting the vital role that volunteers undertake is a large part of the work being presently undertaken by Torbay ChangeUp Consortium. Through partnership working and an enthusiastic approach we are currently seeing displays in numerous locations throughout Torbay that are creating a lot of interest for the voluntary/community sector.   We will soon be seeing volunteer recruitment banners in high traffic areas such as Clennon Valley Paignton & Newton Road Torquay and in addition to this, recruitment posters are due “hot off the press” that will be distributed and displayed in as many places as possible.

We are working hard to raise the profile of Volunteering and to support your recruitment. We would welcome your feedback and views on this, please contact Eloise Elson on 01803 212638 or email eloise@cvatorbay.org.uk
